"Mr Andy Neve has been providing chiropody services at our surgery since 1993. In 1995 Dorset Health Authority invited tenders for the service to be provided at GP surgeries across Dorset. Dorset Healthcare Trust was awarded the contract, but as a practice we declined to purchase from them and made our own arrangements with Mr Neve. He has always provided a first class service for our patients, fitting in with our practice needs, and even providing extra sessions within the contract price which enabled waiting times to be kept down. We have never regretted this decision to support Mr Neve, who has always supported the practice so well and indeed, has continued to provide us with an excellent service.
Chiropods make sure cover is provided by a State Registered Chiropodist in the event of holiday or sickness, causing as little disruption to the surgery as possible. He employs an office manager who reliably provides us with statistical returns required by the PCT every month, and is available to speak to should the need arise.
In the last eighteen months we have changed our computer system to EMIS GV. All consultations are now recorded on computer and Mr Neve uses the computer extensively to record information. He has written an extremely clear template that all staff are able to use which clearly states whether the patient is eligible to receive chiropody under the NHS.
More recently, he highlighted a gap in the service we were offering patients with diabetes, and as a result of this we were able to secure funding from the PCT to improve our chiropody service. All of our patients with diabetes have now been written to inviting them to attend an educational session, followed by an individual appointment should they need it.
We cannot fault the service we receive from Chiropods and Mr Neve in particular, and we would not hesitate to recommend him to other GP practices."
